I've been using this Fitbit One for a few days now and I've come to the conclusion that it really isn't worth it in terms of money. I guess it totally depends on what you want to use it for but yeah it’s pretty much just a fancier pedometer. It isn't an accurate calorie-burner counter. This device can track how many floors you go up and steps you take. Based on that information it calculates how many miles you've traversed and also shoots out a guess as to how many calories you've burned. So essentially if you do 50 push-ups and 10 pull-ups, it’ll track nothing.
I think these days people are looking for more comprehensive metrics than what this device can provide. I’m not sure if there’s anything really out there on the market that can keep track of all of the necessary biometrics needed to be a more accurate activity tracker.
The sleep tracking feature is a chore as you have to remove the device from its regular clip-on and put it in a soft wristband. After a few nights of doing this you’ll tend to just stop using it because of the hassle. And really...besides having the device tell you that you moved during x and y times throughout the evening, how are you really supposed to improve your own sleeping patterns?
Syncing is pretty slick and seamless through Bluetooth; you don’t even have to push any buttons. Just turn on your home machine while the device is on you and the small Bluetooth nubb that comes along with the package will sync with the Fitbit and then will send the data to the cloud.
Yeah overall this sucker is getting sold. I’ll wait till something more fancy comes out later like this Amiigo.
