Upside Down (Sci-Fi Drama 2012)

I've always been a fan of Kirsten Dunst, so I was excited to find out that she was in another film. Was it good? Not really, but I think it was mainly because of the thousands of disconnects with the premise of the story and not because of the acting per se. Not saying that the acting was particularly good but yeah.

The movie didn't make sense from a physics perspective. Two planets existed so close together that they had different worlds where one jacked the other economically. Sorta like the class discrimination concept in the latest Total Recall movie. Odd thing with this world was that a person could not jump to the other side since gravity would still hold them onto their own side. So yeah from a scientific perspective it didn't work but whatever.

The drama was OK but way too transparent  Guy likes a girl and then tries to be with her while not caring about anything except that goal. Visuals were fair...story was eh and overall it wasn't very memorable.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (Drama 2012)

Since I saw the rest of the films in this series, might as well finish it off. As expected it was a blah ending to a blah series, but it was better than some of the others since there was an OK fight scene at the end. Without that it would've sucked just as bad...

Acting was never good with this group, story was quite lacking and jumped around too quickly, and yeah that's about it. This was totally like a teen TV show made into a long movie so only that demographic can honestly say they enjoyed it. Thankfully it's all over now.

Argo (Drama 2012)

This movie was fair. It totally had this old school feel from the 70s/80s and I think that was done on purpose. Ben Affleck wasn't too shabby but I still don't see him as a good actor. Costumes/clothes were very nice and authentic-looking. Drama was OK I suppose but yeah it didn't strike me as anything Oscar winning or anything. This would be a good movie to watch on an airplane.

Flight (Drama 2012)

This movie was OK. It had a good amount of drunk and drug scenes that I wasn't expecting but yeah overall the story was good and as usual Denzel Washington did his thing. The main airplane scene was pretty intense but I've seen better, just don't remember where.

The Impossible (Drama 2012)

This movie is one where the trailer was much cooler than the movie itself. The film followed around a family on vacation over in the pacific when that huge Tsunami hit a few years back. I'd have to say that the drama really wasn't there. Sure the actors and extras wandering around all dumbfounded were convincing, and the hospital that was the location of a good chunk of the film was realistic, but it didn't quite feel like there was enough substance.

I'd wager that the majority of the cost of this film was spent during that one Tsunami scene and all the edits and takes it took. Same thing with Waterworld. For some reason filming in or with water costs a bunch of money. Either way not even Watts and Obi-wan could bring this film back up to snuff. It was sub-par and tried too hard to tug at one's heartstrings.
